5th July 2013 – Fathers4Justice refers MP’s allegations to Hampshire Police
Fathers4Justice today asked Hampshire Police to step into the dispute between the organisation and the MP for Romsey and Southampton North, Caroline Nokes.
The move came after a constituent published allegations made by the MP about Fathers4Justice in which she claims to ‘fear for her daughter’s safety’.
F4J claim the allegations are part of a co-ordinated attempt to smear the organisation and take down their social media sites.
The F4J Twitter account (@F4JOfficial) was take down last week as a result of the MP’s complaints and the groups Facebook account has also been threatened with removal. The dispute began in March after F4J claimed the MP had broken her election promises to them regarding equal parenting.
Said Campaign Director Nadine O’Connor, “We have asked Police to intervene in an attempt to defuse the situation. The MP is refusing to represent at least 8 of her constituents, has taken down social media sites in an unprecedented attack on our civil liberties and has now resorted to making inflammatory, malicious and baseless remarks which can only further escalate the dispute.”
“As a result we have referred the matter to Hampshire Police who we are asking to investigate as a matter of urgency.”
