Fathers Day Olympic Protest Announced

Fathers4Justice today announced they will begin a series of protests in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games beginning at the Olympic Countdown Clock at Trafalgar Square on Saturday 16th June, the day before Fathers Day.

The group will unfurl a giant Olympic flag with the London 2012 logo and the words ‘The Fatherless Games’ blacked out across the logo.

The Countdown Clock itself will be turned into a shrine, marking the time parents have been separated from their children.

Said Campaign Director Nadine O’Connor, “The Olympics provide a worldwide platform for any campaign group. Our message to the world is that 50% of children in London this summer are growing up without a father and that’s why we are calling London 2012 ‘The Fatherless Games’.

Said O’Connor, “With regard to direct action, we are keeping all options open to us, subject to the Government’s final proposals on reforms to give fathers rights to see their children http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9059228/Childrens-legal-right-to-see-both-parents-after-divorce-criticised-by-family-justice-tsar.html Clearly, if this fails to materialise, then a return to the high profile campaign of direct action we waged between 2003-2008 is possible.”
